What is the daily planned routine for each age group?
You can read about the routines for each age group on the
Classes page. Naturally the older ages have more detailed schedules.
How are unplanned illnesses and absences handled?
Rviersong must be notified if your child will be absent. The Parent Handbook also details policies for sick children, including how long they must remain at home.
How will inclement weather days be announced?
What are the rules if I need another adult to pick up my child?
If you need your child to depart with someone other than an authorized person, you must provide a written statement stating who will pick up the child and at what time. That person must have a picture ID and must sign the child out.
Can I create an emergency "code word" so I can call and notify RCLC about an unplanned non-parent pickup?
We understand that life sometimes interrupts our best plans. We allow you to create a secret code word, which will be recorded on the child's registration paperwork. However, this is only for emergencies! For regular situations, we require pre-arranged pickup with a written statement, as described above.
Is there any discount for federal holidays where RCLC is closed?
No.
Riversong is part of a church; is church membership a requirement?
No membership is required! All families are welcome to use Riversong's services, regardless of church affiliation.
What is the policy for flexibility in pickup/dropoff times?
Pickup and dropoff times are detailed in the Parent Handbook, along with late fees. Please note that children cannot be admitted after 10 AM.
What happens if I'm late to pick up my child?
This is also detailed in the Parent Handbook. The late fee is $1 per minute.
What is the child-to-worker ratio?
We follow the Maryland State Department of Education regulations for the ratio of workers to children in each group. You can read the detailed regulations on this
MSDE group size staffing PDF file.
Will you tutor my child, or oversee their homework, during after-care?
Yes, this service is part of the Wise Owls after-care program. However, tutoring is not part of the other classes.
Do you have any study hall space where my after-care child can study?
Yes; further details can be found in the Parent Handbook.
Can breastmilk or specialized foods be properly refrigerated and fed to my children?
Yes, we provide a food storage refrigerator. In fact, all infant foods must be provided by parents, so the selection of your infant's food is completely up to you.
How are allergies handled?
All known allergies must be reported during the sign-up process on the appropriate forms, so we understand how to meet your child's needs. All medications must be provided and parents will sign a medication slip. All medications will be administered according to doctor's orders.
Which schools have pickup/dropoff at the site for before- and after-care?
Hollywood Elementary, Esperanza Middle School and King's Christian Academy are the only schools with formal dropoff and pickup. If your child does not attend those schools, you may still drop off and pick up your child yourself. Please see the
How Far Is It page for complete information.
